Hi, I am…
Laura

I am Laura Kemps, the founder of Assistly Salford. I recently graduated in BA Multilingual Communication in Cologne, Germany. I wrote my dissertation on the media representation of ADHD.

I worked as a home help / daily living support worker during my studies and there I found my passion for it. Over the years I have also worked with children of almost all ages and decided to add it to the variety of services to be able to support parents too. I have been working with a variety of clients with invisible and visible disabilities as well as neurodivergent clients, supporting them with admin, housework and work-related support through the Access to Work scheme.

For now, Assistly Salford is a one-woman business, but I am hoping to be able to extend my team at some point.

what is assistly?

At Assistly Salford, I’m introducing a fresh approach to support services in the UK—something designed to make life a little easier for those who need a helping hand at home but don’t require personal care such as medication assistance or help with bathing and toileting. My aim is to ease some of the strain on the care system by providing a low-level, practical service for individuals who need support with everyday tasks.

This service is particularly beneficial for older adults who don’t need full-time care-giving but could still use some assistance to stay comfortable and independent at home. I believe that my meaningful support can make ageing more manageable, affordable, and enjoyable. But my services aren’t just for older adults. I’m here to help people after surgery or an accident, when everyday tasks might feel overwhelming during recovery. New parents can also benefit from an extra pair of hands during those exciting but often exhausting first months of parenthood— my support even makes for a thoughtful and practical gift.

I am also proud to support disabled individuals and those with long-term health conditions, offering help with daily activities, socialising, or getting to important appointments. At Assistly, my focus is always on making life easier and brighter for everyone I work with.

I can accept disability-related council/government funding, like Direct Payments, Disability Living Allowance, and also offer work-related support that is funded by Access to Work.

Disability-related support funding accepted

  • Social Care Direct Payments
  • Disability Living Allowance (DLA)
  • Personal Independence Payments (PIP)
  • Access to Work support worker funding

Our goal

I am determined to offer empathetic, flexible and reliable child care and home help services. I know from experience what a difference a little bit of help can make. Assistly can provide non-judgemental, friendly and personal support.

My goal for the future is to provide cost-reduced or free home help and child care for anyone in need of it, not just people with government support funding. While this is a dream for now, I am hoping to be able to offer this one day.
